Who we are
At Leviathan we are climbers and skiers first.
Leviathan Mountain Guides was founded with the vision of offering custom mountain trips and clinics with a modern touch—led by talented, young, and passionate guides who create experiences that are engaging, relatable, and authentic.
Over the last decade of guiding, we noticed something missing: a shared passion for continued personal development among guides. At Leviathan, every member of our team is not only a professional guide but also an active athlete, continually pushing their own climbing and skiing at a high level in their free time.
That passion flows naturally into our guiding, creating experiences that feel genuine, refreshing, and real.
Balance
Our guides work hard to maintain a high personal standard in both climbing and skiing. We believe in fostering balance between work, training, and recreation—supporting our guides in pursuing their own mountain goals.
We are also committed to paying a true living wage, ensuring our guides can live comfortably in the mountain towns where they work and play.
Vision
At Leviathan we seek to meet the needs of modern climbers by offering tailor-made courses, clinics and private instruction. We believe the keys to success in the mountains lie in solid foundations of movement skills, tactics and technical systems.
Our programs are built by climbers, for climbers. Whether you’re in the Bow Valley or visiting from afar, we’re here to help you sharpen your skills and take your climbing to the next level.
Our Guides
Braeden Ennis
Owner / Guide
-
Growing up in Vancouver, Braeden was lucky to have Squamish and the Coast Mountains as his backyard. He discovered climbing in high school and has been obsessed ever since.
A performance-focused sport climber and boulderer at heart, Braeden has spent years projecting hard routes and boulders around the world. In recent years, he’s expanded his focus to include big walls and technical alpine climbing, bringing his sport climbing precision to complex mixed terrain.
Braeden has worked extensively in safety and rigging for film and television productions—from lush rainforests to the Arctic and remote regions of Alaska.
Guiding has given Braeden an outlet to share his knowledge and passion with a wider audience.
His jokes are bad and his stoke is contagious.

Brian Shannon
Guide
-
While he loves tackling ambitious objectives and exploring the mountains, Brian is happiest connecting with people and sharing laughs. Drawing on his diverse training background - from English Literature, to clown college, to the ACMG - Brian is known for bringing levity, humour, and personal connection to each day in the mountains. His guiding career has also led him to extensive experience in the film industry, with a range of credits as a safety consultant, stunt rigger, and medic both nationally and internationally.
When not guiding or climbing, Brian is probably in his home - which feels more like a zoo - wrangling his dogs and cat.
